Do you like to find new ways to use something old?
If so, read on to find out how I used repurposed wood from an old swing set to make this adorable sign.
Supplies you will need:
- Wooden sign – you can make your own like I did or you can purchase one.
- Wall Cling – I purchased this floral wall cling on clearance from Hobby Lobby
- Exacto Knife
- Mod Podge and a sponge brush
- A metal or wood word such as “Happy”, “Welcome”, “Home”, etc…
- Hot Glue

The first thing I did was put a white wash finish on my wooden sign. I dry brushed white chalk paint in long brush strokes up and down each board to create this white washed look. Then I put my wall cling directly onto the wooden sign. Easy peasy!

Once the wall cling was on the sign, I took an exacto knife and cut the wall cling down all the cracks/spaces in the boards. See the picture below. Then make sure all edges of the wall cling are pressed down. Even in the spaces between the boards.

The next step was to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge (you can purchase this at Dollar Tree) over the entire wall cling. This step will make sure the wall cling doesn’t peel up as easily. The Mod Podge will appear white at first but don’t worry, it dries clear.

I then spray painted a metal “Happy” word with white spray paint. I chose “Happy” because well, these flowers on this sign just make me happy.

Finally, once the metal “happy” word dried, I hot glued it on the wooden sign. That’s it!!! This was a super easy project at very little cost.
