Friends, are you going through a trial? Are you struggling with something today? Are you facing hardships with finances, work, health, relationships, grief, kids, or any of the numerous other things we face from day to day? If I had to guess, most, if not all of us can answer a big resounding “Yes” to at least one.
Life may not always look the way we imagined it would look. How we envisioned our life going when we were young and blissfully naive to the struggles life brings. (At least, that’s how I was. I would say I was actually blissfully ignorant. I lived in my own little happy bubble and I liked it that way.) Well friends, I am here to remind you to “remember“. Yes, “remember” what God promises us as His children. I was listening to one of Levi Lusko’s podcasts the other day and he said, “Don’t doubt in the storm what He told you on the shore.” He also said, “Don’t doubt in the chaos what He told you in the calm.” Wow. That just hit me right in the heart because I can get so wrapped up in my emotions, feelings, and my hurts that I begin to let doubt seep in. Isn’t that how we are? Something bad happens and we are so focused on the trial that we forget or begin to doubt what we know. I begin to question what I know deep down to be true. I can begin to think things like… God must be punishing me for something, or I’m not good enough, or God can’t forgive me, I messed up too bad this time, or I must have done something wrong to be going through this trial. I have learned that I have to listen with discernment. I have learned how to distinguish the difference between God’s voice and the enemy of our soul’s voice. God’s voice is always encouraging and uplifting, while Satan’s voice is destructive and demeaning. God tells us to guard our hearts for a reason. (Proverbs 4:23) We have to remember where to place our focus. Do we focus on our struggles or do we focus on what God’s word says? Don’t let doubt take residence in your heart or mind. Don’t forget what God has told you. Remember! He doesn’t promise us a life without strife, struggles, and hardships but, he does promise us that He will always be there to help us through all our trials if we allow him to. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” He who promised us is always faithful. He is faithful to comfort us, He is faithful to encourage us, He is faithful to guide us, He is faithful to correct us when we need it (Just like a good Father does), He is faithful to strengthen us, and so much more.
My friends, there is hope for whatever challenge you may be facing or whatever you may face in the future. We find our hope in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the reason we can look to the future and face another day without fear. For we know we can look up to Him and He will always be there helping us along the way. Sarah Lango said it best, “Let God be enough. Period. Enough when others let us down. Enough when this world leaves us empty. Enough when everything feels out of control. Let God be enough.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”
